Your flexible capacity makes a difference
The Netherlands is increasingly facing transmission capacity shortages. This is because the demand for electricity is growing faster than our electrical grid can handle. Congestion management allows us to make better use of the electrical grid by spreading out busy times on the grid. Grid operators ask large consumers and producers to relieve the electrical grid at peak times in return for financial compensation. This creates more opportunities for sustainable energy and allows us to maximise the transmission capacity of the electrical grid together.
Grid operators are working with market participants and large business customers to make more flexible use of the electrical grid. Do you not always use all of your contracted capacity? You can contribute to congestion management by temporarily using more or less electricity at peak times. You will receive compensation for providing this flexible capacity.
